Take the Arco Hard Hat Challenge Today!

We’re challenging the City to be creative, by producing truly individual pieces of artwork on safety helmets which

then form a unique exhibition at the City’s iconic St Stephen’s Shopping Centre.

 

Hard Hat Challenge

 

The ‘Hard Hat Design Challenge’ intends to encourage local artists to take part and reinvent one of the

Health and Safety professions staple items, the traditional white hard hat, with a fun, creative and

unique design.

 

How To Get Involved

 

Decorate an Actual Hard Hat (No hats are available (only those already reserved) we are still accepting online entries)

 

Four designated areas have been set up for you to collect your blank canvas

– the white hard hat. The hard hat challenge runs from 1st July – 14th August.

 

Visit one of the four designated collection and drop-off points:

 

  • Arco Head Office Reception, Waverley Street, Hull, HU1 2SH
  • Arco Trade Counter, Lister Street, Hull, HU1 2RZ
  • Artlink, Princes Avenue, 87 Hull, HU5 3QP
  • Freedom Centre, 97 Preston Road, Hull, HU9 3QB

to download the artwork file. Complete your entry form and

email the design back to hardhat@arco.co.uk to be

entered in to this competition.

Prizes:

 

  • Winner - £300 cash prize
  • x2 Runner up - £100 cash prize
  • 1 under 18 years’ winner -  £100 cash prize

 

Judging:

 

All entries will be judged by a selection of Arco and City of Culture representatives.

Shortlisted entries will be displayed at St Stephen’s Shopping Centre between

11th – 22nd September, where the public can view and enjoy the inspirational

designs the City of Hull have created.

 

Charity Auction:

 

To celebrate the unique designs and individuality these helmets

will portray, we will be hosting a charity auction of the helmets

at Kardohmah on the 10th October to help raise funds for the

Children’s University. More details on this event to follow

in due course.

 

Children’s University is a local children’s charity

that has been running for 21 years. Their aim

is to raise the aspirations of young people in

Hull by building their confidence with their

unique learning experiences.

Local School Activity

 

3000 paper safety hats have been sent out to local education

establishments for them to create something distinctive,

thought provoking and inspiring to you and ideally

related to the city of Hull.
